Tha Khaek

We took a night bus to go there (VIP sleeping bus-6h-150,000KIP). This city is very famous to have a lot of caves around it as the most famous and biggest of the country : Tham Kong Lo (more than 7km). Unfortunately we did not have time to go there as it is at 180km from the city.

Troisième étape: Tha Khaek. Afin de nous y rendre nous avons optés pour le bus de nuit (VIP sleeping bus-6h-150,000KIP), un bon moyen d’économiser en temps et nuit d’hôtel.

La région est surtout connue pour ses nombreuses grottes dont la plus grande du pays : Tham Kong Lo (plus de 7km de long). Malheureusement nous n’avions pas assez de temps pour la visiter sachant que nous n’avions qu’un jour et qu’elle se situe à plus de 180km de la ville.

Instead we rented a scooter and headed first to the buddah cave, a very small cave where you also can take a boat and go under it (very cute). Some people told us that a cave close to it was amazing, unfortunately after an hour looking for it with a new couple that we met on the road we did not find the entrance.

Afin de visiter les plus proches grottes, nous avons loués un scooter pour la journée. La première grottes connue sous le nom de : grotte du Buddha est assez petite, néanmoins vous pouvez prendre une petite barque afin de visiter la partie inférieure et c’est assez sympa.

Ensuite, nous avions entendus qu’une grotte impressionnante ne se trouvait pas trop de loin de celle ou nous étions. Malheureusement après plus de 2:00 de recherche en compagnie d’un couple français nous avons abandonnés.

We then decided to head to another cave which was 22km from the first cave. The cave was very big 60meter high but nothing much interesting to see and do. As the night was coming we decided to head back to the town a bit sad about not seing that many caves.

Enfin, nous avons visités une grotte à 22km (de « route ») de là ou nous étions. La grotte fut sympa mais pas si impressionnante malgré ses 60 mètres de haut. Etant donnée que la nuit approchait nous avons décidés de rentrer en ville avec néanmoins une petite frustration. Donc petit conseil si vous vous rendez à Tha Khek prévoyez plutôt 3 jours afin de visiter plus de grottes.
